Korat-bound athletes complete motivational camp in Malacca

JOHOR BARU: A total of 41 athletes who have been shortlisted to represent Malaysia in aquatics, fencing and bodybuilding at the SEA Games in Korat, Thailand, completed their first phase of motivational training at a camp in Asahan, Malacca, yesterday.

The three-day camp organised by the National Sports Council (NSC) was led by the head of the NSC’s Welfare Department, Zaiton Othman.

According to NSC’s media relations manager Fahmi Omar, the camp was part of NSC’s programmes and activities to build esprit de corps before the Games in December.

“It’s also to motivate the athletes to do their best at the Games,” said Fahmi.

“Although not all of them will be selected by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) to compete in the Games, the experience would be invaluable for them,” he said, adding that more such camps would be held to ensure all Games-bound athletes got a chance to participate in it. – Bernama
