Four More KL Athletes Can Make It To Korat

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory athletics coach S. Arunandy is confident at least four of his 15 senior athletes would qualify for the Korat SEA Games in Thailand from Dec 6-15.

"My hopes are pinned on S. Narendran, S. Ravindran, Mohd Zaiful Zainal Abidin and Mohd Rabani Hassan when they compete in the Malaysian Closed Athletics Championship in Kangar next month," he told Bernama here today.

Five athletes who had already qualified for Korat are Yuan Yu Fang and Loo Choon Seng (10km walk), Mohd Shahrul Haizy and B. Thirukumaran (20km) and Ngew Sin Mei (triple jump).

Yu Fang dan Shahrul Haizy were gold medalists in the 10km and 20km walks at the Manila SEA Games in 2005.

Arunandy also said Kuala Lumpur which had emerged champions four consecutive years would be able to grab a fifth title at Malaysian Closed Athletics Championship at Utama Stadium, Kangar from Sept 4-8.
