KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- The Olympic Council of Malaysia will ensure "halal" (permissible by Islam) food is made available for Muslim athletes and officials attending the 24th SEA Games in Thailand in December.
Malaysia's Chef-de-Mission to the Games, Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad, said that of the three venues for the Games, only Korat was likely to be a problem in regard to the matter as very few Muslims lived there.
The issue would be brought up at the next meeting of the team managers to Games in September to discuss how best to solve the problem, he told reporters after chairing the first meeting of the managers at Wisma OCM here today.
The bulk of the events will be held in Korat with the other venues being Bangkok and Chonbury.
