SEABA C'ship, Final Task For Women Keglers Before SEA Games

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The South-East Asia Basketball Association (SEABA) Championship, to be held in Phuket, Thailand, from Oct 14 to 20, will be the last international tournament for the national women's basketball team before representing Malaysia in the Korat Sea Games.

Besides Malaysia, other participating countries at the SEABA event are the Phillipines, Indonesia, Singapore and host Thailand.

"This championship is too close to the SEA Games. The participating teams will not be able to make any adjustment in a short time after the lapse towards the SEA Games in December," said national head coach Tan See Wah when met after attending a meeting of the National Sports Council (NSC) working committee on basketball in Bukit Jalil today.

He said that the squad's target in the SEABA Championship was to enter the final without exposing too much of their game strategies, both defensive and offensive.

"This championship is just a stepping stone to our target of winning the gold medal at the SEA Games," Tan said.
