KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- The full list of Malaysian athletes competing in the biennial SEA Games in Korat, Thailand will only be sent to the organisers on October 8.
The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) said this was because 14 sports associations had forwarded their appeals at the OCM Selection Committee meeting Tuesday.
The associations involved athletics, football (men and women), judo, taekwondo, baseball, cycling, tennis, lawn bowls, sailing, volleyball, triathlon, fencing and weightlifting.
"The decisions on the appeals will be conveyed to the respective associations through email later today. However, they can still appeal again until Oct 1.
"The appeals include moving from category B to A and increasing the number of athletes," OCM president Tunku Tan Sri Imran Tuanku Jaafar told reporters here after chairing the Selection Committee meeting at Wisma OCM here today.
He however declined to comment further on the associations making the appeals, adding that a press statement on the matter would be issued tomorrow.
In the Korat SEA Games, Malaysia will be taking part in 43 of the 47 events listed for competition.
