SGF honour Thai King with award

A SEA Games Federation (SGF) delegation, which included Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar and honorary secretary-general Datuk Sieh Kok Chi, yesterday paid tribute to King Bhumipol Adulyadej by awarding him the “Sportsman King” award in recognition of his leading role and contributions towards sports.

Kok Chi said that the 33-member delegation was led by Thai Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont and comprised 11 presidents of their respective National Olympic Committees, secretaries and members of the Korat SEA Games organising committee.

“The King granted an audience to the delegation at Chitralada Villa, Dusit Palace in Bangkok at 5.30pm yesterday and it was certainly a moment to cherish,” he said.

Kok Chi added that the SGF award was in the form of an intricately designed Thai-style chain with a medallion, with its links featuring the symbol of the SGF. – Bernama
