Zolkples Unfazed By Shooting Short Fall

KORAT, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- Despite having just won two gold medals in shooting, National Sports Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Zolkples Embong is confident Malaysia can still achieve the 64-gold target for the 24th Korat, SEA Games.

Although Malaysia did not achieve the four-gold target set for shooting, when the events came to a close today, Zolkples believes sports like athletics and cycling would be able to make up for the short fall.

"It is a good start for the national contingent and we are still confident of achieving our target for the Games," he told Bernama here today.

Malaysia won the men's team 25m rapid fire pistol team and women's team 50m rifle prone events respectively but missed the women's 50m rifle prone individual gold when Nur Suryani Mohd Taibi lost on a countback.

Malaysia also missed another gold when Hasli Izwan Amir Hasan failed to retain the 25m men's individual rapid fire pistol gold.
