NAKHON RATCHASIMA (Thailand), Dec 2 (Bernama) -- The Thai women's football team thrashed Malaysia 6-0 in the opening match of the 24th SEA Games at the Tumbon Mueangpug Stadium here today.

The hosts, who scored three goals in each half, had total domination of the match as the Malaysians, especially goalkeeper Nur Atiqa Lilia Abdullah struggled to cope with the more skillful and faster Thai players.

Yesterday, the Malaysian men's team lost 1-3 to Vietnam.

In the men's Group A match today, defending champion Thailand opened their campaign by thwarting a great fight back from Myanmar before winning 3-2. Indonesia also started on a winning note, beating Cambodia 3-1 after leading 1-0 in the first half.
