KORAT, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian women's football team were sent packing after suffering a crushing 0-5 defeat to Myanmar in a Group B preliminary match at the Tumbon Mueangpug Stadium, their second consecutive loss in as many matches, here today.
Malaysia, who were whipped 6-0 by Thailand in their first match on Dec 2, ended their campaign with neither a point nor a goal to their credit in the group which had only three teams.
Thailand and Myanmar advanced to the semi-finals from Group B while the two remaining semi-final slots will be a tussle among Vietnam, Laos and the Philippines.
Barring any upsets, Thailand and Vietnam are expected to meet in the final.
Meanwhile, the men's table tennis team also suffered a similar fate when they went down 0-3 to Indonesia in their final preliminary match.
They had earlier lost 0-3 to Vietnam but though they beat Laos 3-0 it was not enough for a semi-final berth.
